2 elders, the cobe and his sidekick, a former bethelite and a young ms (elder in waiting) stopped by my mom's home while i was visiting with her.
they were very congenial and eventually asked me if i got invited to the memorial and whether they could arrange a future visit with me and a possible study.
i thanked them and told them i appreciated their invitation but that i was going to "pass at this time" but thanked them for their concern.. they recited a "wonderful experience" about a young man that was raised in the "truth" but wanted out so he decided to go to asia where he could not be found by witnesses.

Accept the study and promise to get baptized and go into full-time ministry if they can corroborate the "wonderful experience".
And I mean corroborate not by telling you which CO told the story, but by finding the actual person and conducting a personal interview with him backed by passport stamps for said trip.
so let's say armageddon comes,do you believe that all jw's would be destroyed because jehovah knows it's a false religion...it can't be denied,for the most part,they try to live by the bible...if anybody has to be punished i would say it's the leaders...i know that god wouldn't judge a whole organization but persons individually....so what i'm trying to ask is....do you think you're in a better position right now not for freedom but for salvation than the witnesses??

yeah but it can't be denied--no doubt we're seeing the fulfillment of Jesus prophecy about the last days...so the Bible has some merit!

on another thread a new poster the truth is mine talked about needing to stay undercover so that he doesn't lose control of his family to all of his well meaning theocratic relatives.. i remember reading a number of success stories about how some on this forum managed to get out with their families intact.

I would try the early watchtower open racism angle (colored brother prayed himself to white; the colored servant, etc) and see if they will accept that even if those were the actions of imperfect men at the time, Jehovah would not have wanted to have ANYTHING in common with such ideas, regardeless of the time and that everybody else was doing it.

oddly, for the watchtower bible & tract publishing cult, this particular date still marks the end of the 2,520-year period (that john aquila brown referred to in his bizarre 1823 book "the even tide")... again, no mention of this in any watchtower publication.
but, for jws, that date still remains the starting point for the period of time often referred to as the "last days" or even "the generation that shall not pass".. because of this, the governing body has been forced to change the definition of "the generation that shall not pass" countless times since the early 1970's.
